This Lent, plan to participate in a five-week Lenten Retreat. The retreat dates are March 6, 13, 20, 27, and April 10, starting at 6:45 p.m. in the church’s Fellowship Hall. The session will include large and small group discussions to build on participants’ knowledge and understanding. The principal handout summarizes Catholic Social Teaching from the US Council of Catholic Bishops.
For each of the selected themes, we will reach a common understanding of what the terms mean in general and in the local context. We will then explore underlying causes and, finally, ways to address the situation and the underlying causes.
Topics:
- Catholic social teaching: One human family – Called to love our “neighbor.“
- Option for the poor – Who are the poor and vulnerable?
- The unhoused or homeless
- Hunger and food insecurity in the land of plenty
- Human dignity
